Default Miter saw for cutting tubing.

I know most would say just buy a chopsaw to cut metal. I have a chopsaw but was unable to get precise cuts with it. I had the idea of buying a abrasive blade and put on the miter saw that I have. I was able to cut all the stock I needed in a matter of no time and with very good cuts. If you do do this make sure that the blade is rated over the RPM the saw puts out. The miter saw that I have is a Harbor Freight saw I picked up for around $50 a few years ago and have never really used.

Anyways for those of you who can't afford a decent horizontal bandsaw this idea might work out for you and the Dewalt blades was like $5 at Lowes. I was cutting 1 1 /4x 1 1/4x 1/8 thick tubing and it cut like it was nothing.

The only thing I can say is keep the saw clean after using it so that if you have to use it for wood again. If it's for just metal then don't worry about it. Good luck it worked for me and it was a harborfreight saw which didn't cost me a whole lot. It might be worth it to buy one just for that. Oh yeah make sure and take the dust bag off it may catch fire.

I had a old Mikita saw that I tried and it melted some of the plastic components.....I would not use a goodexpensive miter saw.Just my 2 cents. I broke down and bought a chop saw.
