Somewhere on here i read about the intek and animal having interchangable parts. Well what can i do to this without sending it out to get blueprinted? Any different exhaust and carb ideas?

This has circulated a few times in other questions but I will touch the surface a little bit. Many exhaust are being manufactured for the animal which will fit the 6.5. Not much modification is needed they pretty much bolt right up and away you go. The stock carb can be drilled for alky, you can prep them a bit to flow a little more fuel, or they make aftermarket intaked and a tilly or walbro carb. Just remember as we have all stated before, the stock rods and cranks arent made to take or sustain high rpm's. Removing the governor and other mods will shorten the life of the engine if its not prepped correctly. A billet rod and a chromed super stock piston will set you back about 125.00 or so but will help your engine live. If you plan on going with a larger cam, you will need to beef up the valvetrain a bit so it will stay together and your clearances are correct. If you just want to pick the performance up a little without spending a fortune on parts, buy and exhaust, remove the governor and be gentle on it. Remember, a brand new animal only costs about 500.00 out the door. Why dump half of that in a 6.5 thats not designed for racing

What (Animal) exhaust do you recommend for the 6.5 Intek? I've heard that aftermarket exhausts will accelerate the burning of valves... FWIW, I only want to add an exhaust and not mess with the governor. TIA

RLV makes a really nice pipe for the stock animals, its a part number 5500 and should work well for your governed 6.5. You must run the muffler with it and its part number is b91-L. This addition will sound good and work great for your application. Robertson also makes a nice header part number ISSM. This ia a snkae header with no muffler so its pretty noisy. Both perform well but I still feel like the RLV would be a better pipe since your not going to remove the governor.

Thanks Voodoo, I'm seriously considering your recommendation! Looking thru Reiken's racing catalog, the RLV 5500 exhaust seems to point down at a pretty good angle. Will this cause problems on a BSR for chain, axle, frame clearance? Their picture is decent, but doesn't show an engine installed on any kind of frame. Any kind of pic of the install on a BSR would really help...

IM not sure about the clearance issues as we are running flattys on our bsr's and the blockzilla's on our drag stool. We also run the rlv mod pipes with a very similiar bend in the exhaust, but we built our stool around any clearance problems. Just have to try and get some specs on the pipe and do some measuring. If your careful, you can take a conduit bender and tweak the pipe just a bit if you need too without hurting the exhaust or the performance. Good luck

Could you cut this and angle it up or just a little up? and reweld it?

you probably could I guess, I have never tried it to be honest I just try and rebend it myself so I dont get a kink or a disruptance in flow. You might try just cutting a small slit with a hacksaw not cutting completely through the pipe leaving a little material and then bend the tubing back together then weld it. Might save a lot of hardship and look a little neater. Try it it might work

If your motor is ungoven, and you have a header on it. You should have 8hp easy. That's basically why a Animal makes more power then the Intec.
Carb and intake $70 + $5 for shipping anywhere in the U.S.

i have not removed my govornor yet. I do not think i will either. I bought a rlv pipe for it. And im thinking about just running an air filter. Its just the briggs 6.5 intek i/c 206 cast iron sleeve.

is it hard to remove the govorner? The motor is brand new, and i guess i just dont know exactly how to get it out, and then if i need to replace gaskets and stuff. I went with a tav 20 or 30 or somthin with the 10 tooth sprocket, and a 41 in the axle for starters.

You will have to open up the motor to remove the complete govenor setup. This is the best way to do it. That way you will remove all the internal rotating parts.
