hey all,
here are some pictures of my latest work in progress. I started building a frame last winter, and recently bought a different rear tire off of ebay. I decided to refab the back end since it was a little too narrow for the new tire. I will need to cut off the back of what i started, and marry it to the new part i built for the new rear wheel(pictured). So far it's going pretty well, considering i am making it all up as I go along. I will need to find an engine to set in there, so I can figure out how long the frame needs to be. I want to keep it relatively short in case I want to pull it behind my motorcycle, but we will see how it pans out.
Happy New Year, Everyone,

Looking good! Are you going with a Motorcycle engine or a Briggs type engine? Are you going to build the front end also or buy a springer or shock type? I have been thinking of building one after I get through with my 3 BSR's im building now! Keep us posted on the progress and keep up the good work!:thumb:

I am going to use a briggs style engine, probably about a 5 h.p. I am going to build my own front end also. I made some triple trees at work, and am going to use 1 inch pipe for the forks, and maybe a bicycle front tire. I check ebay once in awhile for front tire options.
not sure what to use for steering bearings, but i'll figure something out.
hopefully i'll set the 2 pieces of frame together today, and get a better feel for what it is going to look like.

here is the marriage of my 2 frame pieces. Almost would have been better off starting over completely. I just mocked this up for the hell of it. I tried to put a 3.5 hp briggs in there, and it wouldn't fit. No big deal. I want a really low seat height, so I will just need to put an arc or sharp bend in the backbone tube. It will all work out in the end.. I also put a picture of my buddy's custom he built. This is how I might do my backbone. I have alot of 1.25 pipe to experiment with so we will see how it turns out. I would like to cut some off the downtube also. If I don't shink something up, it's gonna be as long as my fatboy.

Here are some of the latest on my mini chopper, which is back on the front burner again.I put the motor in the frame, and found out it didn't fit so well. I had to cut the "swingarm" apart and open it up a little so the 5 HP intek would fit. it went ok, but I learned it helps to have the parts before welding everything up solid. Need to get my sporty tank and see how it looks on there. i hope to shorten the length 4 or 5 inches. I have some chrome drag bars off my barstool, or may make my own.
Hopefully, i can make more progress this weekend, but need to take the little woman out for our anniversary, too.

here are the type of bearings i am using in the neck. I got them to fit snug in the pipe, so i hope they work ok. I saw a guy was selling the same setup on ebay, so i figured i could make it cheeper myself.
I am using 1 inch pipe for the bottom and 1 1/4 for the downtube and backbone. I had the 1 1/4 sitting around cause i was going to build a bsr out of it, just to have a stout look, but couldn't bend it tight enough. Well, i just had to think of something to build to use it on.
Thanks for your input.

Hey Wayfat
Do you think the gas tank is a bit too large? is that a full size bike one?

I bet the tank will look more proportional once the engine and accessories are added....btw...that thing is looking sweet

thanks. yeah, i thought it looked a little big, too, but like you said i think it will look a little more proportioned when done.
