Bar-tab,

I positioned my front and rear wheels to be the same distance out so if I an going through a tight space if the front fit I know the rear will.

All I am can you at this time of the evening is that I positioned my rear hubs so the back side of the hub measured to the bearing 4.25 inches out. I used a front wheel spacer of 1.5 inches to match the rear.

Your front wheel spacing will be different if you are building a different frame than mine. I mainly wanted a real tight stout stance on the Classic Cruiser so I tucked in the wheels nice and tight.

I set mine up the the track width was the same front and rear, 2 wheel riding more stable/easier. If you turn a little too sharp at higher speed it will lean even, and not try to pitch you forward as well.

Mine is the same as well,
40" furthest outside point to furthest outside point both front and back. I think kaw said it but it doesnt tend to push you forward in a corner. Some of the goofs at the track were setting the rear 2 inches narrower to try and avoid just that and it seems to make the racers a bit top heavy LOL.
Same distance should work just fine for you
