I've never welded stainless before but I am going to try and rebuild my bars and a battery box out of stainless. I went today and picked up a spool of wire for my mig and checked to make sure I had the right gas. Anybody have any tips on welding it, is it any big deal?

Stainless burns very nice. Keep a clean welding surface and you will be fine. I welded some 3/4" plate gurders for bridges a few years back. I loved welding that stuff.

welding stainless is alot like mild steel. Use what they call tri-mix(argon,helium,co2) i likes a little more amperage too.

Yah, I found that if I turn the heat up it welded alot nicer. The box came out decent, I still need to do some more sanding to get it a little smoother.

Yeah I have done alot of stainless welding both mig and tig, I found as well as you that more heat the better the flow but be aware of warpage. If you get a chance try tiggin stainless oh man its the only way to go
