I've been reading and learning here for some time now. Got started on my frame two or three weeks ago, in my spare time. My BSR is really more of a Bar Stool Runabout than a racer. The design is mine (except for the steering column which I borrowed from Mike). I didn't want to spend the money for the cool wide tires and deep dish mags so I am just using some cheap Harbor Freight wheels, at least to start off with. Here is where I am at right now...

Here is an extended spindle with spring for a little "give" in the front end...

Here is the hub insert and bearing (on the axle) that goes into the center hub of the wheel. The hub started out as a weldable sprocket hub that I had turned down to fit in the wheel. I am going to weld it into the wheel...

I hope to get the steering all finished up this coming weekend so I can start putting it all together. I will post more pictures as it progresses.

Hey that looks awesome!!! I like the design. Wish my first frame looked that good. I had to do a lot of grinding on mine. Do you plan on a store bought Stool or are you going to fab one yourself? And i love the front end. i have never see one like it. keep up the great work and keep posting.

Thanks WarPaint! Actually I had a LOT of practice welding on my second welding project. That project took about 18 one pound spools of .035 flux core wire to finish.
I already have a bar stool. I got it from a biker supply in Dallas I believe. The Honda clone motor with the TAV fits under it real nicely. As a mater of fact I have everything I need to finish it but the handlebars and a chain and I ordered those from Mike today.
I usually only have time to work on it on the weekends but I will post pictures of my progress.

I to use cheapy harbor frieght wheels ($4.99 each). Mine are only 10.5 inches tall though which leave my sprocket only .5 inches above the ground. I'de really like to have the same 13inch wheels you have for the rear of mine, but I don't recall seeing those at my harbor freight store.
Did you make that insert for your rear wheels? if not, where did you get it?
Awesome design by the way!!!

Ryan147,
I got a sale circular from Harbor in the mail today and the 13" tires and wheels are on sale for $9.99 each. Part number 37767.
Actually the inserts started out being a spocket hub that was meant to be welded onto a sproket. It is for a 1" axle and has a 1/4 inch keyway which was perfect for my axle, however it would not fit into the wheel so I took it to a machinist and had him turn the OD down so it would fit in the hub. The hub will fit into the weel but only go about half way through so I planned on leaving the 5/8 inch bearing on the outside. Doing this I had to have the threaded ends on my axle also modified. They were 3/4 inch so I had the machinist turn it down to 5/8 inch and thread it as such. I paid $60 for the machinist to make the mods, but at $10 a wheel and the $60 for the mods, I am still WAY under the cost of the cool looking wide wheels, rims and hubs. I got the insert from Wholesale Tools for about $5 each. The part number is 4046-0055 and can be found here....

Check out the Surplus Center in Lincoln Nebraska. They have a web site. Lots of cool wheel and tire combinations.

Loose Stool,
Rather than mess with buying sprocket hubs and having to take parts to a machinest, you should just get some split 6" rims and take the tires off the harbor freight wheels.
I finally picked up some wheels and am going to order the split rims tonight. All should go well, I'll post pics as soon as I get them mounted!!!

That's pretty sharp Ryan! I like the way you put the engine in front of the stool. That has got to make it easy to ride the back wheels for a ways.
Good job!

Dude, taking a better look after work today, I notice that....
You either have one LONG pitman arm on that guy or that steering shaft is geared with a chain or with pully of some kind...? Give us more detail or better pics....

Loose Stool,
I'm assuming you are talking about my racer? The pitman arm isn't any longer than other ones. Are you sure you're not getting it confused with the basketball hoop in the background?
I can always take more shots if you'de like

Is that a HarborFreight 6.5 Honda clone engine Ryan?

yep, 6.5hp motor from harborfreight. nice amount of torque, my only complaint is the muffler and air box are a little to wide to fit the motor under the barstool.
